Lepo: Most people don’t even know that his real first name is Charles. When his mom uses it, everyone says: ‘Who, oh Lepo.’ Lepo grew up near Hickory, NC where they only play baseball. In the baseball off-season they play baseball. No one there has ever even heard of a bike, if you can’t put catchers equipment and a bucket of balls in the back, why would you even have it. Needless to say, Lepo doesn’t have a big biking background… or a camping background for that matter. It matters not, he’ll use the determination he has from a 4A State Baseball Championship to push his way through the bugs, sun, and wind that the US will be throwing at us for ten weeks this summer. He is a student at UNC and is doing a health and nutrition internship this summer with UNC’s Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention. He’s hoping to do a complicated nutritional analysis on biker intake…here’s a hint, we eat everything all day, everyday until we get to the Pacific.
